“About this time last year I came to you scared out of my wits because I was scared my voice would never be okay again. With your exercises (that I still do every morning as I’m getting ready) I have been able to make a vocal recovery, however, this process has humbled me and I now have a deeper respect for my vocal cords. Today, I released my first song on all music streaming platforms and I wanted to reach out and share [that] because without you, I don’t think it would have happened! Thank you from the bottom of my heart.”

“I came to Michelle after years of seeking guidance from voice teachers and doctors who had been unable to help me. I had lost 2 octaves of vocal range and experienced extreme neck tension and vocal fatigue when I sang and spoke. With patience, kindness, and tireless attention to detail, Michelle restored my voice. She was able to quickly identify the root of my vocal problems and skillfully apply exercises that helped me shed old habits and build new skills. After several years of study with her, I was able to fulfill my dream of becoming a voice teacher myself. In every lesson I teach, I use concepts that she taught me. I even recommend her to my own students when I feel they need expertise beyond what I can offer. Nearly 15 years after our first lesson, I continue to study with Michelle and to rely on her expert ear and in-depth knowledge. My work with her has truly been life-changing and I am deeply grateful.”

“I have worked with Michelle Horman, my voice therapist, since my first encounter with a complex voice disorder involving recurring vocal fold paresis. Since that first episode, I have had two subsequent relapses. The first two episodes required medications and voice therapy (and resolved successfully) while the third encounter involved injection medialization, and, when that failed to resolve my paresis, a subsequent thyroplasty. After each relapse, I was treated by Michelle, prior to, during and after my medical interventions. As I write this today my voice disorder is completely resolved. I know that I could not have done this without Michelle’s competent and compassionate care and her flexible and evolving approach to my voice therapy needs. I am a professional psychologist and nonprofit executive who depends totally on my voice to carry out my career successfully. Because of the complex and recurring nature of my voice disorder, I needed to be treated by Michelle because I felt that only she could help me through what was becoming a chronic and worsening problem. This was based not only on the recommendations I received from two highly respected ENTS, but, most importantly, I had developed a complete trust in Michelle’s ability to help me through what had become a serious health problem and concomitant career crisis. As I write this today, I know that Michelle’s care was crucial in the resolution of my voice disorder. With all of the above in mind, I recommend Michelle without reservation to my patients, family, and friends who are dealing with any type of voice issue and I encourage anyone reading this to reach out to her as well.”

She approaches every client with compassion, sensitivity and an incredible depth of knowledge, which she is able to distill into clear, understandable exercises, that yield results. By drawing on different aspects of her dynamic career, Michelle offers an incredible breadth of expertise, which she then tailors to the personal needs of each individual. Her holistic approach to voice allows her to reach her clients in ways no other speech therapist or vocal coach really can.
Michelle is not only an amazing teacher, but a wonderful human being. Her honesty, directness and care have helped me navigate some of the most difficult material of my professional career.
